George E. Rippey
George Rippey is a Senior Partner of Oak Hill Partners, based in Westport, Connecticut. Prior to founding Oak Hill Partners in 2002, he was a Senior Partner at Heidrick & Struggles. Oak Hill's four founders are all former Heidrick & Struggles Senior Partners with collective search experience of 70 years. George joined Heidrick in the fall of 1988 and was made a Partner in September 1990 and a Director in 1993. In 1996, George was appointed to lead the Heidrick & Struggles Chief Information Officer Practice. He served in that capacity for five years.
George's search practice focuses on serving clients in a wide range of industries. He has completed assignments for Chief Executives, Chief Operating Officers, Board Directors, Chief Information Officers, and Vice Presidents in a variety of functions for such companies as American Express, GE, MetLife, McGraw-Hill and Merrill Lynch, to name a few. Additionally, he has conducted a substantial body of work with smaller entrepreneurial and venture capital companies.
Recent assignments include Senior Vice President Marketing for Geac Computer Corporation, GM/Plant Manager for Cytec Industries, CEO Jolly Gardener Products (Legg Mason Capital), CEO Chautaugua Airlines (Wexford Management) and Chief Information Officer PepsiCo.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles in 1988, George was a Consultant and Partner within the consulting group of Marketing Corporation of America. While at MCA, George led major consulting engagements with such firms as Citibank, IBM, GE, Eastern Airlines, and 3M. Previously, he spent nine years with IBM serving in various marketing and sales capacities, including Manager of Wholesale Channels.
George resides in Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife, Susan, and their three children.
George received a B.A. in English from the University of Maine and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Fordham University.
